Published in Monday Morning Quarterback - March 25, 2024 Almost 50 people across 26 AGC chapters (representing almost 20 states) were bussed to our Lakeside headquarters, our state of the art facility, to learn more about our workforce development and apprenticeship programs as part of the national convention activities last Tuesday (March 19, 2024). Our AGC chapter president, Gita Murthy, welcomed the attendees to the office as they arrived on two of our chartered buses to learn about all the ways we are preparing the workforce for the industry on behalf of our members. AGC Apprenticeship’s Glenn Hillegas and Jon Hill walked attendees through indoor/outdoor demonstrations, while students from Montecito High School performed steel stud framing and wood framing activities. AGC SD CEO Eddie Sprecco gave attendees a tour of the administrative portions of the building and ushered folks in to try out our simulators. Our partners at this event – SDSU’s Thais Alves, Milwaukee Tool’s Justin Ross, and CM Lab’s Joe Najjar – provided invaluable information about how they work with us to create opportunities and solutions for general contractors. San Diego icon, Hodad’s, hosted lunch, providing attendees with their local favorites, burgers and fries. Topics covered include apprenticeship career exploration, partnerships, AGC San Diego’s education/safety programs, and workforce development. Chapter members from across the convention provided positive feedback about the impressiveness of our facility and operations.
